There are many factors to consider when choosing a web designer to build your website and there are normally questions from both parties that need discussing and answering before choosing the right person for the job. Sadly there are a lot of freelancers and agencies that are just out to make a quick profit, producing substandard work that doesn’t merit the premium price. I have over 15 years experience in IT in one form or another and won’t take on any work without a clear understanding of what is required and knowing that I’ve got the necessary skills to produce quality and time efficient work.

Web designing has always been a passion of mine and I love the fact that it challenges me logically and creatively. Although I’m no stranger to programming applications and websites from scratch, I do prefer the design and creative process of coming up with a branding concept and seeing it though to a final product.

Until a few years ago I used to hand code database driven sites in HTML/ASP, and still do some VB programming in Excel from time to time. However, these days I’m more focussed on producing stunning WordPress driven sites that are fully responsive using the latest standards in web development knowing that any site I produce will be future proof for at least a few years.

WordPress?

Since discovering WordPress in 2009 I’ve used it on every possible web project I started and it has improved tremendously over the years. It is FREE and supported by thousands of first class programmers across the world to ensures it stays the best CMS (content management system) out there.

WordPress is a blog CMS in its purest for but it can be upgraded with the use plugins to get it doing pretty much what ever you want.

E.g. Online forums, Booking platforms, Secure shopping and e-commerece, Photo and portfolio showcasing and much, much more.

What does Responsive mean?

Most well designed modern websites are responsive. This simply means that your website will automatically resize page content and elements to fit on all screen sizes like laptops, iPads and phones.

Many web websites out there nearly get it right and it is not always possible to get everything to look great on all screens but I think it is possible with some clever coding and checking, and re-checking. This process probably takes the longest but it is totally worth the effort if your site looks amazing on anything from an iPhone 4 to a high powered desktop PC.

Why does PageSpeed analytics matter?

Simply put, it just does but it all boils down to a few things that should matter to every website owner.

  • It improves SEO as search engines check and compare your site with others to determine rankings. No one knows what weight is put on PageSpeed but I’d rather do as much as I can to improve these scores.
  • Your visitors will be able to load your web pages much quicker.
